Education and Training is an introductory award for anyone wishing to enter teaching or training in the Lifelong Learning Sector. This includes teachers and trainers working in work-based learning and community based learning as well as those in teaching and training in colleges of further education.

The course provides an introduction to the teaching role and would suit graduates, administrators, anyone with a degree, an appropriate vocational qualification or experience, who is interested in entering teaching. It is also relevant for people with specialist or technical skills, who carry out teaching or training as part of their current or future role.

Cancellation Policy

 Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Mathematics: Numeracy (QCF) is a standalone specialist qualification for teachers or trainee teachers working in the education and training sector who wish to obtain a specialist teaching qualification in numeracy.  It can be completed before a generic teaching qualification, afterwards or concurrently.

The TQUK Level 5 Diploma in Teaching English: Literacy and ESOL (QCF) is a standalone specialist qualification within the education and training suite and is suitable for learners wishing to develop the skills and knowledge to specialise in the teaching of Literacy and English to Speakers of Other Languages. The purpose of this qualification is to develop knowledge and skills relevant to a particular specialisation within an occupation or set of occupations.

When will I start the programme and how long will it take?

The credit value of a qualification can be used to define how long it will take to achieve, as one credit represents 10 hours of learning. The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF) is a 12 credit qualification; therefore, learners could take up to 120 hours to achieve it. You can enrol at any time of the year.

This qualification will be suitable for teachers in an associate role who teach predominantly in at least one of the following ways:

  • On a one-to-one basis
  • From pre-prepared materials where the associate teacher has not been responsible for the design of those materials
  • A programme restricted to a particular level, subject or type of learner and where the associate teacher does not deliver or develop across a full range of a curriculum.

This qualification is accredited on the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) as a 120 credit Diploma at Level 5, comprising of six mandatory units with a combined 90 credits and two optional units that make up the other 30 credits.
